Your safety is our priority, and while most clients on Hiry are vetted and reliable, it’s still important to stay sharp and protect yourself from potential scams. Here are some simple but powerful tips to help keep you safe.
🔐 1. Always Request a Deposit (Especially from New Clients)
If a client has zero reviews or you haven’t worked with them before:
Ask for at least a partial deposit before you begin work.
This is especially important for one-time or fixed-scope projects.
✅ Deposits create accountability and ensure you're paid for your time.
📩 2. Keep Communication on Hiry Chat
Avoid clicking on or sending links outside of Google Meet or other known platforms.
Try to keep all discussions (including project scope and approvals) within Hiry chat.
💬 Why? Because if anything goes wrong, we can only help you if the conversation happened on-platform.
💸 3. Handle Payments Through the Platform
Don’t invoice clients outside of Hiry.
When you use the platform, your payment is protected with escrow and dispute support.
Off-platform payments mean we can’t help you if something goes wrong.
⚠️ 4. Don’t Submit Final Work Without Approval & Payment
Always get written client approval before handing over final deliverables.
Double-check that payment has been made before submitting full work.
✋ Avoid delivering everything upfront without guarantees.
🤝 5. Why Staying on Hiry Matters
We totally understand the temptation to move faster off-platform but doing so comes with real risk.
When you stay on Hiry:
We can offer escrow protection
We can intervene in disputes
We track all project details and agreements for you
When you go off-platform:
We can’t help recover lost payments
We can’t mediate disputes
And we have no record of your job or communication
🙅 Once it’s off Hiry, it’s out of our hands.
🧠 Final Tip: Stay Alert, Not Paranoid
We don’t want to scare you — just keep your guard up and follow these guidelines. 99% of jobs go smoothly, but it only takes one bad experience to ruin a week of hard work.
