šŸŽ„ Call Permission Denied? Here’s How to Fix It

Written by Parik

If you’re trying to hop on a meeting on Hiry and see an error like ā€œMicrophone or Camera Permission Deniedā€, don’t worry, this is usually a quick fix.

Browsers require explicit permission before allowing access to your microphone and camera. If permission was denied earlier, you’ll need to manually enable it.

Follow the steps below based on the browser you’re using.

Before You Start (Quick Checklist)

Make sure that:

  • You are using the latest version of your browser

  • No other app (Zoom, Google Meet, Discord, etc.) is actively using your microphone or camera

  • You have refreshed the Hiry page after changing permissions

1ļøāƒ£ Google Chrome

  1. Open Hiry in Chrome

  2. Click the šŸ”’ lock icon to the left of the address bar

  3. Set:

    • Camera → Allow

    • Microphone → Allow

  4. Click Reload

  5. Try starting the call again

šŸ‘‰ If you don’t see the lock icon:

  • Go to chrome://settings/content/camera

  • Make sure Hiry is not blocked

2ļøāƒ£ Microsoft Edge

  1. Open Hiry in Edge

  2. Click the šŸ”’ lock icon in the address bar

  3. Under Permissions, set:

    • Camera → Allow

    • Microphone → Allow

  4. Refresh the page

  5. Rejoin or start the call

šŸ’” Tip:
You can also visit
edge://settings/content/camera
to double-check permissions.

3ļøāƒ£ Safari

  1. Open Safari

  2. From the top menu, click Safari → Settings

  3. Go to the Websites tab

  4. Select Camera and Microphone from the left sidebar

  5. Find Hiry and set both to Allow

  6. Close settings and refresh the page

āš ļø Important:
Safari will not re-prompt automatically if permission was denied earlier — you must change it manually.
