If you’re trying to hop on a meeting on Hiry and see an error like “Microphone or Camera Permission Denied”, don’t worry, this is usually a quick fix.
Browsers require explicit permission before allowing access to your microphone and camera. If permission was denied earlier, you’ll need to manually enable it.
Follow the steps below based on the browser you’re using.
Before You Start (Quick Checklist)
Make sure that:
You are using the latest version of your browser
No other app (Zoom, Google Meet, Discord, etc.) is actively using your microphone or camera
You have refreshed the Hiry page after changing permissions
1️⃣ Google Chrome
Open Hiry in Chrome
Click the 🔒 lock icon to the left of the address bar
Set:
Camera → Allow
Microphone → Allow
Click Reload
Try starting the call again
👉 If you don’t see the lock icon:
Go to
chrome://settings/content/cameraMake sure Hiry is not blocked
2️⃣ Microsoft Edge
Open Hiry in Edge
Click the 🔒 lock icon in the address bar
Under Permissions, set:
Camera → Allow
Microphone → Allow
Refresh the page
Rejoin or start the call
💡 Tip:
You can also visit
edge://settings/content/camera
to double-check permissions.
3️⃣ Safari
Open Safari
From the top menu, click Safari → Settings
Go to the Websites tab
Select Camera and Microphone from the left sidebar
Find Hiry and set both to Allow
Close settings and refresh the page
⚠️ Important:
Safari will not re-prompt automatically if permission was denied earlier — you must change it manually.
